Toughened Glass
Toughened or tempered glass is a single layer safety glass which has been strengthened by re-heating after processing to the desired shape and requirements. The balanced internal stresses created during this heating process causes the glass to shatter into small, granular chunks instead of the more dangerous jagged shards of non toughened glass.
The safety aspects of this type of glass make it ideally suited for decorative glass splash backs and wall cladding as the finished product has all of the versatile qualities of non toughened glass.
Our in house plant can toughened panels of glass to a maximum size of 4200 x 2200mm in any thickness of glass from 4mm to 19mm as well as most of our range of decorative finishes. As our plant uses less gas than other toughening plants, resulting in a finished product less likely to have roller marks or waves.
